Geography's field-work tradition

Abstract
Field-work has acquired various meanings along the historical development of this discipline: Geography. The changes in how Geography is understood have led to the redefinition of field-work's contribution to knowledge production processes. The aim of this paper is to approach the epistemological and political issues present in the different ways that field-work is understood. It also seeks to show that the various ways of understanding and doing fieldwork coexist at present
