Globalization and territorial dynamics in Rondônia, Amazon region

Abstract

This article analyzes the territorial dynamics in Rondônia from the spatial advance of soy production. Such geographic processes are articulated with an expansión of a globalised economy that has direct impact on the Amazon region. The soy expansión is followed by the formation of an agricultural geography which concentrates the grains of the south of Rondônia, which shows an economic dynamism accompanied by exclusión and possible social-territorial pressures in the more preserved environments. As a product of social relations, the spatial articulation is based on the expansión of soy production, articulated by hegemonic agents in the configuration of a territorial net, whose dynamics is a product of the expansión of processes of the globalized areas.
